Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center is located in Parkton, Maryland, just twenty-five minutes north of Baltimore City and forty-five minutes south of York, Pennsylvania.
As an educational non-profit organization, Genesee Valley has been serving children and adults for over thirty years. Through an experiential approach to learning and an emphasis on cooperation versus competition, we encourage our participants in activities that help them to realize and build skills necessary for success in life. Some of these skills include: communication, teamwork, healthy risk-taking, confidence building, leadership, and creative problem solving. Though each of our programs is unique, common philosophies bind them together: learn and grow through experience, trust and self-discovery.
Opportunities for growth arise from group problem-solving initiatives, the many low and high ropes course elements that make up our challenge course, summer camp activities, and the natural surroundings the farm and forests offer.
Among our innovative and unique programs include group teambuilding and adventure day programs (with an overnight camping option), summer day camp, off-site teambuilding, an agricultural education program, and off-site rock climbing and canoeing expeditions.
Our 250-acre facility is also host to lacrosse practices and tournaments, trail runs and races, farm tours, and family or corporate picnics.
It is a testament to the quality of our programs that the growing popularity of the Outdoor Learning Center has spread throughout the region mostly by word of mouth. With all that our programs and property have to offer, we serve nearly 20,000 individuals annually.
