Robert A. (Rob) Belcher, Chairman
Rob is the founder and CEO of Sealtite Applicators, Inc., a commercial roofing company with a service area in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. After graduating from Friends School in Baltimore (Tom LaMonica was Rob’s lacrosse coach), Rob earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and computer sciences from Duke University in 1981. On springtime afternoons, Rob is a regular fixture on the Genesee Valley athletic fields where he coaches Herford High School’s varsity men’s lacrosse. He and his family live on Spooks Hill Road immediately adjacent to Genesee Valley. He has been an active member of the Genesee Valley board for many years and was elected chairman in late 2010. He was re-elected chairman in September 2011. (Board term expires: September 2013)
Shannon C. Dodge
Shannon is a practicing architect running a small firm in Baltimore County. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia and her Masters of Architecture from Morgan State University. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects as well as the Home Builders Association of Maryland. Shannon's firm specializes in residential, commercial and retail projects. Though she had heard of Genesee Valley's wonderful reputation for years, she only recently became personally involved with the Center. (Board term expires: September 2013)
Steve James
Steve is the vice president in charge of construction for James Keelty & Company, a 107 year old real estate development firm. He is on the board of the Homebuilders Association of Maryland, the Baltimore County Homebuilders, the Maryland chapter of the US Green Building Council, and is chairman of the Baltimore County Homebuilders’ Political Action Committee. Steve was raised in New Jersey, received a BA in education from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College), is married with three daughters and lives in Phoenix, MD. Steve has enjoyed watching his daughters participate in numerous athletic events at Genesee Valley for the past several years. (Board term expires: September 2014)
Marianne Maranto, Secretary
Marianne is currently working on her Teacher Certification in K-12 physical education from Towson University. She has a B.S. degree in physical education with a concentration in outdoor education from Salisbury University. As an undergraduate she completed her internship at Genesee Valley as a counselor/facilitator, and worked for Project Adventure Inc. as a counselor for adjudicated youth in Covington, GA. Marianne currently works for Charm City Run Event Management and is responsible for timing and scoring their 5k/10k running races. Marianne met her husband, Dave, at Genesee Valley and they have two beautiful daughters. (Board term expires: September 2012)
John Martindale
John is CEO and co-founder of Brothers Services Company, one of Maryland's largest roofing and remodeling companies – serving both residential and commercial customers primarily in the Central Maryland area for 26 years. John earned his MBA from Loyola in 2004 and is an instrument rated private pilot and an avid golfer. A dedicated family man with five grown children, John has been blessed to be married to his best friend, Diane, for the past thirty years. John is an elder at Lifepoint Church, has served as President of the Remodelers Council, and has been a recipient of many awards including Remodeler of the Year, Future 50, Smart 100, and multiple years as Best of Baltimore (Roofing) and Best of Carroll (Roofing). Scott G. McGill, Sr., Treasurer
Scott is the co-founder of Ecotone, Inc., an ecological design and construction company based in Jarrettsville, MD, and is also a co-founder of Albemarle Restorations, LLC, a North Carolina based environmental restoration company. Scott grew up on a farm in Glen Arm, MD, and graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1989 with a degree in Natural Resource Management. He has served as an officer of the Maryland Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the Mid-Atlantic Council of Trout Unlimited, and is an active Elder at Faith Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, MD. In his youth, Scott spent 12 endless summers at Chesapeake Center summer camp in Port Deposit, MD and continues to support youth camping by leading a summer bike trip for Camp Donegal in Airville, MD. In his spare time he enjoys trips with his wife and 3 children, endurance mountain biking, fly fishing, and adventure sports. (Board term expires: September 2014)
Wilmer J. E. (Wil)Sauerbrey
Wil is an Associate Broker at Long& Foster Real Estate Inc, the largest privately owned real estate company in the USA. He grew up in Maryland, and graduated from Lehigh University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and the University of Baltimore with a JD in law. Several US patents were awarded to him while working as a Design Engineer. He then moved into technically oriented sales, which grew into an International Marketing position for custom engineered heavy load transfer systems throughout North America, Europe and the Middle East. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Greater Jacksonville Association, is a member of various Real Estate Boards, Oriole Dog Training Club, American Society of Naval Engineers and the American Legion. Wil lives on a small farm in the Jacksonville area of Baltimore County with his wife Ellen and their trained German Shepherd dog. He has been on the Board of Directors and associated with Genesee Valley since 1992. (Board term expires: September 2014)
Lawrence (Larry) E. Schmidt, Esq.
Larry is the president of the Baltimore County School Board and a partner at the law firm Smith, Gildea & Schmidt, LLC in Towson, Maryland. He has been a practicing attorney in Maryland for over 32 years. Smith, Gildea & Schmidt, LLC focuses on land use, real estate and complex litigation matters. Previously, Larry served as Zoning Commissioner/Hearing Officer of Baltimore County from 1991-2004. Larry is a 1975 graduate of Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) and received his J.D. from the University of Baltimore. In addition to his professional achievements, Larry has participated in numerous volunteer activities, including serving as a member of the Baltimore County Board of Education (2009-Present) (President: 2011-2012). He has also been an active volunteer for Baltimore County Recreation and Parks, Greater Towson Committee, and numerous other professional and volunteer organizations. Christopher M. (Chris) Siciliano
Chris is the Director of Sales at Stancills, Inc., in Perryville, MD, which designs and produces engineered soils for the environment. After graduating from Towson State University in 1996 he began a career in non-profit organizations. Chris has over 15 years experience with several nonprofits, mostly with Board development and fundraising. He has been a member of the Towsontowne Rotary Club for 15 years, is a co-founder of Furnishing 4 Hope, is treasurer of the local US Green Building Council chapter, is an assistant Scout Master, and came to Genesee Valley in the latter half of 2009. Chris and his wife, Siobain, live in Nottingham, MD. (Board term expires: September 2013)
William (Bill) Williams, Jr.
Bill is the Senior Director of Stegman and Company, certified public accountants based in Baltimore. As the Senior Director in charge of the SEC practice section, Bill provides audit and accounting services to a broad group of entities including financial services, biosciences and other commercials entities. Bill is a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Center for Audit Quality and, as a Certified Valuation Analyst, a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Dr. Jane L. Wolfson
Jane is a Professor of Biology and the Director of the Environmental Science and Studies Program at Towson University. Jane earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Cornell University and completed her Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution at SUNY Stony Brook. Her research on agricultural insects and agroecology took her to a series of research positions in Entomology Departments at the University of Kentucky and Purdue University. She moved onto academic environmental programs in the early 1990s and joined Towson in 1998. She is currently on the executive committee for the National Council for Science and the Environment and a board member of Maryland Agricultural Resources Council and North County Preservation, where she has been very active in the New Farmer Training Program. Jane LaMonica
Jane is the Business Manager of Genesee Valley. She majored in early childhood education at both Villa Julia College and Towson University before she began working at Genesee Valley as a camp counselor in 1987. After working as a financial aid officer at Friends School in 1988 and 1989, Jane married Tom LaMonica in 1990 and has been Genesee Valley’s business manager ever since. Jane is active in many community organizations in northern Baltimore County and lives on Laurel Ridge Road in Parkton with her three children, Jackie, Paul, and Sara. (Board term: Life)
Dr. Harrison Monk
Harrison grew up in Darien, Connecticut, earned his BS degree in biology at Colby College in Maine in 1966, and was awarded his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1970. A resident of Anne Arundel County since graduation from veterinary school, Harrison is a co-founder and partner of Greater Annapolis Veterinary Hospital in Annapolis. He belongs to the Maryland and American Veterinary Medical Associations, as well as the American Animal Hospital Association and the Greater Baltimore Veterinary Medical Association. He has been the veterinary advisor to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County and a member of the Anne Arundel County Animal Control Board. (Board term: Life)
