We need volunteers to help us with many tasks throughout the morning of the race: setting up the check in tables, taking photos, distributing water, and much more.  We could also use some help getting the course ready the couple weeks prior to the race.  Email us if you are interested in helping.

The 5K trail course is a challenging, but beautiful course that winds its way through the woods, trails, and ponds on our 150 acre property.  Refreshments will be provided before and after the race.  There is one water stop along the course.

About Genesee Valley and the Memorail 5K run
Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center is a nonprofit organization founded by Tom LaMonica in 1981.  Tom was a teacher and coach at Friends School of Baltimore and passionately served as our leader until his passing in September 2010.  We are determined to continue his vision to provide opportunities for learners of all ages to experience success and growth through shared outdoor experiences.

This 5K run is a memorial to our founder and our biggest fundraising event of the year.

Genesee Valley is dedicated to an experiential approach to education that allows students and adults to work better as a group in the classroom, on their team, in their family, or at the office.  In all of our programs we actively address communication, healthy risk-taking, confidence building, persistence, leadership, and creative problem solving.

We offer a wide variety of programs: Adventure Day programs (with overnight camping option) for schools, groups, and corporate groups; Spring Break camp; Summer Camp; Off-Site programs (year-round)

Our campus also hosts a variety of sporting events including lacrosse, soccer, football, and field hockey throughout the year.

All proceeds support Genesee Valley programs!
